Greece to reject all asylum applications from migrants coming from Turkey
ATHENS — The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Immigration issued a joint statement in which they clarified that Athens had decided to reject all asylum applications for immigrants coming from Syria, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Somalia through Turkey from now on.
The statement pointed out that Turkey is a safe country for refugees and meets all the criteria for examining international protection applications submitted by asylum seekers from these countries.
Greek Migration Minister Notis Mitarachi considered the new decision an important step in combating the flow of illegal immigration and preventing human trafficking.
