ISIS fighters arrested in Iraq and Syria by Iraqi Security Forces and Syrian Democratic forces

NINEVEH, Iraq / DAYRO ZCURO, Syria — The Security Media Cell in Iraq announced that the Federal Intelligence and Investigation Apparatus of the Ministry of Interior were able to arrest 18 members of the Islamic State (ISIS) in multiple locations in Nineveh Governorate, Iraq.

The Media Cell pointed out that the ISIS members all had arrest warrants issued against them in accordance with Article 4 of the Anti-Terrorism Law.

It also declared that those arrested confessed to participating in terrorist operations against Iraqi Security Forces and civilians.

In related news, the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in North and East Syria revealed that its forces, with air support from the U.S.-led International Coalition, arrested an ISIS “Emir” and two other ISIS members in the countryside of Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor), who were responsible for recruitment and facilitating terrorist operations.

The ISIS Emir was arrested in the village of Al-Balaliya in the countryside of Dayro Zcuro. He was responsible for planning and carrying out assassinations and was closely linked to ISIS leaders in the region.
