Olaf Taw Association participates in first conference of Teachers’ Union in North and East Syria

HASKAH, Syria — A delegation from Olaf Taw Association for Syriac Language Education participated in the first conference of the Teachers’ Union of North and East Syria held in Hasakah on Friday.

The conference, held in Sardem Hall in Hasakah’s Mashaifa neighborhood under the slogan “Through the Teachers’ Union, We Will Build the Union of Peoples”, was attended by a delegation from the Education Authority of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA), directors and teachers from the Syriac Olaf Taw Association, the Directorate General of Education, and teachers from across North and East Syria.

The conference began with a minute of silence, after which a speech was delivered on behalf of the Movement for a Democratic Society (TEV-DEM) by member of the movement Taz Basha

Co-Chair of the Education Authority Rajab Musharraf gave a speech in which he congratulated the attendees of the conference and thanked them for coming together to develop effective decisions that meet the aspirations of all people.

The conference included reading the annual report and assessing the organizational status of the Union. The rules and procedures of the Union were read by teacher Ali Jarad prior to discussions and voting on each item.

At the end of the conference, the members of the Union elected new Co-Chairs, Nasrin Rashek and Jassim Abdullah.
