Catalan delegation visits North and East Syria to review situation in the region

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — On Tuesday morning, a Catalan delegation consisting of members of the Catalan Parliament Eulàlia Reguant and Ruben Wagensberg, and member of the Barcelona Council Laura Perez arrived at the Zalin (Qamishli) headquarters of the Foreign Relations Commission of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria.

The delegation was received by Co-Chairs of the Foreign Relations Commission Dr. Abdul Karim Omar and Dania Ramadan and member of the Commission’s administrative body Sanaa Dahham.

During the meeting, the DAA system and model in managing the regions of North and East Syria were introduced. The political process, the economic situation, and the challenges facing the DAA were also touched on, in addition to discussing the repeated violations of the Turkey and its Syrian National Army (SNA) proxies in Cafrin (Afrin), Rish Ayno (Ras al-Ayn), and Tel Abyad.

The two sides also exchanged views on the current situation in Syria in general, and the DAA areas in particular, as well as the development of joint relations between Catalonia and the DAA of North and East Syria.

The Catalan delegation, in turn, indicated that they want to know more the political and social situation in North and East Syria, noting that they came to see the challenges and difficulties facing the people of region and how they can help solve these problems.
