Syrian Democratic Forces of North and East Syria arrested dozens of ISIS suspects in Hasakah and Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor)

HASAKAH and DAYRO ZCURO, Syria — The security campaign of the Internal Security Forces (ISF) of North and East Syria being conducted in coordination with the U.S.-led International Coalition and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), contributed to limiting the crimes of the Islamic State (ISIS) inside Al-Hol Refugee Camp following a number of arrests of ISIS operatives in the camp who were in communication with ISIS leaders abroad. The operation in Al-Hol, although significantly reduced from its peak, is ongoing.

The SDF, via their official website, announced the arrest of four ISIS members in Al-Hol Camp who had assassinated three civilians, including a woman, in the camp under the direction of ISIS leaders outside the camp.

In a video published by the SDF, ISIS members confessed that they received instructions from ISIS leaders through contacts in Turkey using mobile phones. According to the confessions, they were spreading ISIS ideology in the camp and punishing — usually killing — anyone in the camp not complying with the wishes of ISIS leadership.

In the eastern countryside of Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor), the SDF announced the arrests of 17 ISIS members and their collaborators in the city of Al-Basira during an operation carried out by SDF Anti-Terror Units with the participation of the U.S.-led International Coalition. As a result, weapons, equipment, and documents that were in the possession of the cell members was confiscated.
