Syrian Democratic Forces of North and East Syria arrest 22 suspected ISIS members in Dayro Zcuro; five killed in ISIS ambush
DAYRO ZCURO, Syria — Attacks on security and political officials in Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor) continue despite counter-terrorism operations by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).
On Friday, the SDF announced the arrests of 22 suspected members of the Islamic Sate (ISIS) during a two-day security operation in the countryside of Dayro Zcuro.
“During the first day of the operation, the SDF anti-terrorist units arrested 17 terrorists, and on the second day, the SDF commandos arrested five others,” read a statement by the SDF Media Center. The statement indicated that the suspected ISIS members were using civilian homes to hide and make improvised explosive devices.
The SDF also uncovered a number of secret tunnels used by ISIS to move around the countryside.
Despite the near constant counter-terrorism operations, a vehicle carrying Self-Defense Forces (HXP) was ambushed by ISIS militants in Dayro Zcuro, killing five and wounding five others.
