Syriac Union Party Co-Chair Barsoum meets with delegation from Yasna Zoroastrian organization in North and East Syria
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — On Friday, Co-Chair of the Syriac Union Party (SUP) in Syria Sanharib Barsoum met with a delegation from Yasna, an association founded in 2014 to promote Zoroastrianism.
The visiting delegation included members of the organization’s council Ragheb Daoud and Kamal Nour, representative of Zoroastrians — Rojava Isrwan Issam, and member of the SUP council Noura Hanna.
During the meeting, the Yasna delegation spoke about the purpose and work of their organization. According to the delegation, the organization, founded in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, has recently established an office in North and East Syria.
SUP Co-Chair Barsoum welcomed the visiting delegation and congratulated them on the establishment of the organization, stressing the necessity of organizations like Yasna to promote religious pluralism and tolerance. He also expressed the SUP’s readiness to cooperate with Yasna in its work.
The two sides discussed many political, administrative, and cultural aspects and the importance of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) project and thought in perpetuating pluralism in North and East Syria, recognizing all its components, and promoting coexistence among them.
