Syriac Maronite Patriarch al-Raï meets USCIRF Chair Maenza to discuss Lebanese crises and coexistence in the country
BETH KERKE, Lebanon — Syriac Maronite Patriarch Mor Bechara Boutros al-Raï continues his series of meetings with political representatives to discuss the situation in Lebanon. Patriarch al-Raï received Chair of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) Nadine Maenza and In Defense of Christians Advocacy Board Member Professor Alexis Moukarzel at the Patriarchate headquarters in Beth Kerke (Bkerke), Lebanon.
During their meeting, the two sides reviewed the Lebanese situation and crises, as well as the role of the U.S. and the international community in providing assistance to the Lebanese people to overcome their ordeals.
Maenza expressed her happiness to meet with the Syriac Maronite Patriarch and her admiration for his position on coexistence in Lebanon despite the difficult circumstances.
She also made it clear that the U.S. is ready to help Lebanon, indicating that she can contribute to joint dialogue and convergence of views between the different parties. Maenza also stated she will seek to secure what is necessary so that Lebanon remains a country of coexistence among different religions.
