Young journalist Malik Yohanoun dies in traffic accident in North and East Syria
QABRE HEWORE, Syria — Malik Elias Yohanoun, journalist and member of the media office of the Assyrian Democratic Organization (ADO), died in a traffic accident on the Zalin (Qamishli)–Qabre Hewore (Al-Qahtaniyah) road on Monday. Yohanoun was born in Qabre Hewore in 1991.
The ADO issued a statement mourning Yohanoun’s passing. He was known for his tireless work and considered as one of the most active members of the ADO youth cadres. He was committed to the issues of his people and his country and was an example of living a selfless and dedicated life. Yohanoun spent much of his time organizing the youth and educating them in the culture and history of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people and noble human values and principles.
Several months ago, his father, Elias Yohanon, passed away after contracting the coronavirus.
