Human Rights Watch accused both Israel and Hamas of committing war crimes during the recent conflict in Gaza
GAZA STRIP — Human Rights Watch (HRW) accused both Israel and Hamas of committing atrocities that amount to war crimes during the recent conflict in the Gaza Strip.
HRW indicated that Israeli warplanes carried out three air raids on the Gaza Strip that targeted civilian buildings with no military purpose, killing 62 civilians. This contradicts the laws of war that allow warring parties to target military sites and avoid targeting civilians.
The report also pointed out that Hamas committed illegal attacks. It indiscriminately targeted residential centers in Israeli territory with more than 4,300 rockets, which is a violation of the law prohibiting deliberate and indiscriminate attacks against civilians.
HRW called for the formation of an international commission to investigate the crimes committed by both sides.
