ISIS operatives arrested by Iraqi forces during operations in Baghdad and Anbar

BAGHDAD / ANBAR, Iraq — During security operations carried out by the Iraqi forces across the country, 14 suspected members of the Islamic State (ISIS) were arrested.

The ISIS leader Abu Muadh was among those arrested in Baghdad, in addition to a network of six members in Al-Anbar Province.

During the operations, which targeted the “Al-Qaqa’a Battalion”, two ISIS leaders were arrested, namely commander of a military detachment Abu Ali and commander of the air defense detachment Abu Khansaa.

This came after a large-scale search operation launched by the Iraqi forces south of Kerkeslokh (Kirkuk).

The operation was supervised by the Joint Operations Command and implemented by the Iraqi security forces with the support of the U.S.-led International Coalition Air Force.
