Development organizations in North and East Syria hold table tennis tournament in Zalin (Qamishli)

ZALIN, Syria — In support of sports activities and athletes in North and East Syria, Tadmorto Organization for Development and Community Cohesion, in cooperation with the development organization Shar and in coordination with the Sports Union in Gozarto (Jazira) Region, held a table tennis tournament in the hall of the Syriac Catholic Church in Zalin (Qamishli).

Tadmorto (Palmyra) administrator Rabi Elias said that the tournament was held over four days, During the first two days, the group league was organized. On the third day the quarter- and semi-finals were held. On the fourth day the final was held.

Elias added that a women’s match was also organized on the fourth day, in order to convey the message that table tennis is for everyone and to increase women’s confidence.

The tournament included the presentation of folk dances reflecting the civilization and culture of the components of North and East Syria.
