Assyrian Democratic Organization remembers Simele Massacre at memorial event in Zalin in North and East Syria

ZALIN, Syria — On the 88th anniversary of the 1933 Simele Massacre against the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people in Iraq, the Assyrian Democratic Organization (ADO) held a memorial event at its headquarters in the city of Zalin (Qamishli) in North and East Syria.

The memorial event began with a minute of silence for the souls of martyrs.

Poet Michel Feelo recited a poem about the massacre and how important and painful this day is for the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people.

ADO official Bashir al-Saadi followed with a lecture in which he spoke about the most important causes of the massacre, as well as the political and strategic situation of the Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian people at the time.

The event was held with the participation of the ADO Youth, members, and administrators.
