LEBANON: Syriac Maronite Patriarch Raï meets President Aoun and renews call for politicians to join hands in forming new government
BEIRUT – Syriac Maronite Patriarch Mor Béchara Boutros Raï once again called on all Lebanese politicians to cooperate in forming a new Lebanese government. Mor Béchara Boutros Raï made his statements after a visit to the presidential palace at Baabda to meet with Lebanese President Michel Aoun – also a Syriac Maronite – as part of his ongoing visits with Lebanese politicians and officials to turn around Lebanon’s political crisis and suffocating economic misery.
During the meeting, the Syriac Patriarch stressed the urgent need to form a government capable of carrying out reforms and to be a driver for peace and solutions out of the crises which hurts the Lebanese people more and more by the day.
He stated that everyone according to his or her position, is responsible for the rise of Lebanon, calling on all parties to join hands and cooperate in order to overcome the crisis to help the people morally and financially.
The Patriarch’s statements come as Prime Minister-designate Najib Mikati tries to coordinate with all Lebanese politicians to reach a new government in accordance with the Lebanese constitution.
