Nineveh Artists’ Union honors Miss Iraq 2021 Maria Farhad
BAGHDEDE, Iraq — After winning this year’s Miss Iraq title, Syriac Maria Farhad was honored with a commemorative shield from the Nineveh Artists’ Union during a ceremony held in Baghdede.
The evening was attended by Baghdede’s Syriac mayor Issam Behnam Matti, a number of priests, representatives of security forces and institutions in the region, and a group of artists from the town of Baghdede.
The evening began with the Iraqi national anthem and performances by a group of Baghdede children, after which a speech was delivered by the representative of the Syriac Catholic Diocese of Mosul, Bishop Noel Qas Touma. President of the Iraqi Physical Artists – Nineveh Branch Khlef Hammoud spoke, followed by Maria Farhad herself.
Head of the Nineveh Artists’ Union Tahsin Haddad then presented the Union’s Shield to the newly crowned Miss Iraq, Maria Farhad.
