Resident of Abu Rasayn in North and East Syria criticize Russia’s failure to enforce ceasefire with Turkey after several civilians killed in Turkish bombardment
ABU RASAYN, Syria — Intense Turkish artillery bombardment killed two civilians and injured at least 10 others in the town of Abu Rasayn (Zarkan) in North and East Syria.
Consequently, two armored vehicles of the Russian Military Police headed to the district center to inspect the damage and visit the affected civilians.
However, their visit was met with criticism and denunciation by the town residents who said Russia was not doing enough to enforce the ceasefire with Turkey agreed to in October 2019.
Spokesperson of the Syriac Military Council (Mawtbo Fulḥoyo Suryoyo, MFS) Matai Hanna also criticized Russian shortcoming while giving updates about the constant Tyurkish attacks along the frontline in North and East Syria.
Turkish bombardment of Ayn Issa, Tel Tamr, and Abu Rasayn has intensified on recent weeks.
