IRAQ: Christian graves in Mosul desecrated by ISIS remain open, bones and bodies of the dead left in the open

MOSUL, Iraq — After the Islamic State (ISIS) took control of Mosul, Iraq, in 2015, the terrorist organization dug up, vandalized, and destroyed Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian graves. Activists have recently highlighted the desecration of the graves on social media.

In a video, activists called on the Iraqi government to restore the graves of Christians, criticizing the government’s failure to undo the damage caused by ISIS.

The video shows bones and bodies indiscriminately dumped and dozens of graves haphazardly opened.

At the end of the video, the activists stressed the constructive role of Christians in Mosul and called for the dead to be properly buried.
