North and East Syria Administration meets with elders and notables of Gozarto (Jazira) Region
RMELAN, Syria — On Thursday, a delegation from the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria made up of representatives of its Executive, Legislative, and Justice Council and representative of the Zalin (Qamishli) District Council met with elders and notables from the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean), Arab, and Kurdish clans in the Dayrik (Al-Malikiyah) region to hear their opinions and criticism.
The meeting was held at the Aram Dekran Center for Culture and Art in Rmelan. Co-Chair of the Legislative Council Hikmat Habib pointed out that the legitimacy of the DAA emanates from the will of the people and they are seeking a decentralized democratic project.
Habib stressed that the DAA is committed to dialogue and does not want enmity with anyone, even with Turkey despite its human rights violations and occupation of Syrian.
The discussion was opened by Co-Chair of the Executive Council of Gozarto (Jazira) Region Nazira Goreya. Those in attendance called for the DAA to secure seeds, reduce emigration by securing jobs for region’s youth, and repair some of the area’s roads. The attendees also called for reforming some of the DAA’s laws and improve sanitation.
