Hospitals in Lebanon: Lives of patients at risk due to fuel shortage

BEIRUT — Hospitals in Lebanon issued a joint statement on Wednesday warning of the danger posed to patients by the ongoing fuel crisis. Hospitals in the country have been dangerously low on fuel to run their generators — some even running out completely.

The statement said that patients on respirators, in need of dialysis, or other lifesaving procedures could die if nothing is done to end the fuel crisis, adding that so far, the state has been unable to change the situation in the country.

Many hospitals in Lebanon are down to two days worth of fuel.
