German police arrest woman collecting money for Islamic State in Syria
KARLSRUHE, Germany — Media sources reported that the Federal Public Prosecution Office in Karlsruhe, Germany, confirmed that a German woman in Geretsried has been arrested for helping an Iraqi held in pretrial detention since the beginning of the year.
The Federal Prosecutor’s Office accused the Iraqi man of playing a central role in raising funds in Germany for the Islamic State (ISIS) and transferring funds to Syria and Lebanon several times.
The Public Prosecution Office issued an arrest warrant for the man who was arrested while trying to cross the German–Swiss border last April.
According to the sources, the detained woman is suspected of contacting ISIS women and fund-raising for one woman in particular who had escaped from a detainment camp in Syria.
