BEIRUT — President of the Universal Syriac Union Party (USUP) in Lebanon Ibrahim Mrad expressed his deep appreciation and thanks to SuroyoTV for the large fund-raising campaign they organized on Monday evening to help the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in Lebanon, who are suffering from the catastrophic economic crisis.
Mrad added that the current crisis is the largest in Lebanon’s history since the policy of starvation pursued by the Ottoman Empire against the Christians of Mount Lebanon.
He pointed out that the aid campaigns organized by SuroyoTV contribute to alleviating the pain of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people in the homeland and that the TV channel carries the message of struggle in the political, social, cultural, economic, and other fields.
Mrad extended his greatest thanks to the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) diaspora, describing them as loving and always giving.
He added that, through their continuous assistance, they contribute and help their brothers and sisters in the homeland to build a life and maintain their ancestral links despite harsh circumstances.
“Without the assistance of our Syriac people in the diaspora, the USUP would not have been able to complete its aid campaigns in Lebanon, Syria, and Iraq,” Mrad exclaimed.
Mrad declared that the Syriac people are among the most charitable who provide aid with great love and faith, reflecting their values of patriotism and Christianity.
“The USUP will continue its struggle until it achieves its goal of ensuring the right of our Syriac people to live in their homeland freely and in dignity,” Mrad concluded.
