Iran works to keep Syria in pre-2011 mentality

RAQQA, Syria — Member of the Political Board of Directors of the Modernity and Democracy Party for Syria in Raqqa Maher al-Tamran stated that Iran is pushing the region towards permanent conflict in pursuit of its own objectives in the region.

“Iran wants to empty all of Syria from any opponents to the government of President Bashar al-Assad,” he added.

Al-Tamran pointed out that Iranian policy in Syria has played a significant in controlling the Syrian situation internally and externally and is in direct conflict with the aspirations of Syrians seeking freedom and dignity.

He pointed out that Syrians are paying the price for the backroom agreements and power struggles taking place on their land.

In related news, press reports quoting knowledgeable sources stated that Iran intends to increase its presence in Syria. According to the report, Iran is working to establish its presence within Syrian economic, social, and cultural structures.

A report published by The Independent — Persia revealed that the Iranian militias expanded their influence in Syria by buying real estate or seizing land, noting that the Lebanese Hezbollah militia tops the list of Iranian-backed militias that are expanding their influence in Syria through the purchase of land and apartments.

The Independent reported that the Hezbollah militants confiscated 315 apartments.

Since the beginning of 2021, pro-Iranian militias have purchased more than 370 properties around the Zabadani area near the Lebanese–Syrian border and at least 505 properties in the border area of ​​Tufail.
