Holy Synod of the Armenian Catholic Church elects new Catholicos-Patriarch of Cilicia
VATICAN — The Holy Synod of the Armenian Catholic Church held at the Armenian Papal Institute in Rome elected Bishop Raphael François Minassian as Catholicos-Patriarch of Cilicia.
The new Patriarch took the name Raphael Bedros XXI Minassian. The new Patriarch succeeds Gregory Peter XX Ghabroyan.
The Patriarch and members of the Holy Synod of the Armenian Catholic Church will also meet His Holiness Pope Francis on 24 September in the Vatican.
