NORTH and EAST SYRIA, Syria – As part of Turkey’s ongoing attempts of sabotage and to create a state of instability in North and East Syria, Turkish-backed mercenaries attempted to infiltrate areas controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). Turkey’s Syrian National Army mercenaries act as an advanced post of the Turkish army with drone- and airpower cover from the Turkish army. The infiltration attempts continue despite a cease fire agreement being in place. The SDF repelled these infiltrations attempts.
Syrian Democratic Forces’ spokesperson Aram Hanna (Syriac Military Council, MFS) made the following public statements on the infiltration attempts.
“Over the past week there has been an escalation of Turkish attacks on our areas, including on Mabbug (Manbij), Ayn Issa, and the southern countryside of the Turkish-occupied city of Tel Abyad, all the way to the countryside of Tal Tamr,” Hanna said via his official Facebook account. He indicating that intense and violent bombing campaigns directly targeted inhabited villages and civilian homes.
“On Wednesday, September 2, at 03:45 AM, our SDF fighters responded to a Turkish ground and artillery attack and an infiltration on the village of al-Debs and the M4 highway, northwest of the town of Ayn Issa. Our troops collided with the Turkish enemy, killing dozens and destroying a military vehicle.”
Hanna pointed out that the Turkish bombings resulted in the death of a civilian and the injury of four others who were transferred to Raqqa city to receive medical care. The mercenaries also stole a hundred sheep – a livelihood for villagers – from the people of the village of al-Debs.
“Our forces are in position and ready to face potential violations and work to secure the lives and property of civilians,” Hanna concluded.
Statement issued by multi-ethnic citizens of the Tel Tamr area in #AANES is as relevant today as when it was issued a month ago. #Turkey seeks to achieve what #ISIS could not–driving #Christians and others out of the Khabour River valley. https://t.co/kMMZEPrPQC
