Patriarch Younan III exempts Syriac students in Lebanon from school fees
BEIRUT, Lebanon – The Secretariat of the Syriac Catholic Patriarchate of Antioch issued a statement in which it announced the decision by Patriarch Mor Ignatius Youssef III Younan to exempt all students who receive education in the Syriac Catholic private schools of Lycée Mathaf (High School) and Deir el-Shorfa School from all school fees for the new school year 2021-22.
The decision stems from the tough economic conditions Lebanon is currently going through. Families have a hard time making ends meet.
The decision to exempt families from paying school fees is taken for the second consecutive school year.
At the end of the statement, the Syriac Catholic Patriarchate asked God to put an end to the terrible crisis and difficult days for Lebanon.
