Co-Chair of Democratic Union Party Enwer Muslim congratulates Syriac Union Party on 16th anniversary of founding, stresses its important role in North and East Syria
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — Co-Chair of the Democratic Union Party (Partiya Yekîtiya Demokrat, PYD) stated on the 16th anniversary of the founding of the Syriac Union Party (SUP) that, despite the sensitive circumstances during which it was established, it has represented the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people through a democratic approach.
He added that the SUP played an important role in North and East Syria in partnership with the other parties that co-founded the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA).
The conditions in Syria are sensitive and difficult, especially after the entry of Turkey and its Syrian National Army (SNA) proxies, said Muslim. They have taken advantage of the conflict in the country to pursue policies of ethnic cleansing and demographic change of the indigenous Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) peoples who have ancient roots in Syria and the Middle East, he added.
The SUP has an active and constructive role in the DAA, said Muslim, and the civil society organizations of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) contribute to the goal of preserving all Syrian components and their histories.
He concluded by stating that the SUP and the DAA are seeking a democratic decentralized Syria based on a consensual constitution that preserves and protects all Syrians and wished the party success.
