North and East Syria health officials visit Covid-19 Hospital in Dayrik (Al-Malikiyah) to evaluate situation and meet with medical personnel

DAYRIK, Syria — As coronavirus infections increase day by day, a joint delegation from the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria and Gozarto (Jazira) Region visited Covid-19 Hospital in Dayrik (Al-Malikiyah) to evaluate the conditions of patients and provide the necessary supplies to the hospital.

Co-Chair of the DAA Health Authority Joan Mustafa, accompanied by the Co-Chair of the Health Authority of Gozarto Region Mustafa Kalash and Co-Chair of the Zalin (Qamishli) Canton Council Afram Isaac visited the Covid-19 Hospital in Dayrik.

The delegation was briefed on the extent to which DAA’s actions to prevent the spread of the virus were adhered to during their meeting with the hospital management and medical staff. The delegation praised the efforts of medical staff, who have been working long hours in difficult conditions.

Talat Younis, Co-Chair of the Executive Council of Gozarto Region said that after the widespread coronavirus pandemic is in its fourth wave in North and East Syria and officials decided to visit the hospital to listen to the medical staff and discuss the mechanism of action and how to take preventive measures to improve the situation. Younis stressed that they will provide all the medical supplies, oxygen, and all necessary equipment to help patients in their fight against the virus.

The Health Authority recorded five new coronavirus related deaths on Monday, two men and two women from Haskah and one man from Dayro Zcuro (Deir ez-Zor).

Two hundred and forty new infections were recorded in North and East Syria, 139 men and 101 women.

There have been 958 known deaths from the coronavirus in the region.
