North and East Syria official Joseph Lahdo reveals Executive Council solutions to traffic jams

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — Joseph Lahdo, Deputy Co-Chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria, said the Council held a meeting with the Interior, Municipality, Traffic, and Customs Authorities of the DAA to develop a number of plans to resolve the traffic issues in major cities.

Lahdo said the Authorities will work in tandem to improve the situation by enforcing traffic laws, removing vehicles that park illegally, keeping sidewalks clear, and working to reopen previously closed roads.

Lahdo said there is a plan to secure public transport that serves the people of the villages, ease congestion by reducing the number of private cars coming from villages, and a joint committee will be established to improve the distribution of checkpoints.

With regard to the proposals put forward during the meeting, Lahdo said that they included the construction of pedestrian bridges in specific locations, the construction of city-ring ways to prevent truck traffic, the development of several parking garages, and the expansion of roads.
