U.N. Human Rights Council refers to siege of Druco (Daraa) as war crime

GENEVA — The United Nations Human Rights Council stated that Syria still does is not a safe environment for the return of refugees and displaced people. The Council condemned the military actions of Syrian regime forces in Druco (Daraa) and Edleb (Idlib), calling on all parties to immediately stop activities that lead to the displacement of civilians.

The Council called on all parties to assume their responsibilities and obligations under international law to facilitate humanitarian aid access. It also stressed that the recent siege of Druco by the regime forces constitutes a war crime, represented by collective punishment, as well as targeting humanitarian and medical personnel.
