Turkey ranked 12th in Global Organized Crime Index, 1st in human trafficking and arms trafficking

ANKARA — A new international report revealed violations of international law by the Turkish government and endemic organized crime, human trafficking, and arms and drug smuggling in the country.

In its most recent report, the Global Initiative to Combat Organized Crime ranked Turkey 12th of 139 in the Global Crime Index, higher than any country in Europe, citing alarming levels of human trafficking and arms and drug smuggling.

The report placed Turkey at the top of the human smuggling ranking and arms trafficking categories.
