Syriac Union Party condemns Turkish occupation’s continued targeting of Syriac–Assyrian Tel Tamr in North and East Syria
TEL TAMR, Syria — “The villages of our people have recently been targeted by the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries, and this shelling is affecting the sanctities of our people — the Syriac Union Party finds Turkey’s actions reprehensible,” said Gabriel Shamoun, a member of the Executive Committee of the Syriac Union Party (SUP).
Shamoun’s come in response to continued shelling by Turkey and its Syrian National Army (SNA) proxies of the Syriac–Assyrian villages around Tel Tamr in the Khabur River Valley. He told SuroyoTV that the repeated shelling is affecting the villages, holy places, churches, and cemeteries of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people.
Shamoun expressed confidence in the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and the Syriac Military Council (Mawthbo Folhoyo Suryoyo, MFS) stationed on the lines of contact and their ability to repel the attacks of the occupation forces.
He also called on the international community to intervene to stop the Turkish attacks on the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) and other peoples of North and East Syria.
