Sovereign Front for Lebanon calls on international community to take immediate action to implement all U.N. Security Council resolutions

BEIRUT – Against the backdrop of Thursday’s bloody events in Beirut and the increasing security tensions in Lebanon, the Sovereign Front for Lebanon held an extraordinary meeting in which President Ibrahim Mrad of the Universal Syriac Union also participated. The Sovereign Front issued a statement warning against attempts to turn the facts around to try to distract the Lebanese people from the reality of the Beirut Port explosion.

In its statement, the Sovereign Front stated:

“After mainstream and social media circulated footage of the demonstration of men armed with light and medium weapons, tensions intensified. The demonstration terrified the elderly, women, and children safe at home. Hence, we can only condemn what happened in the most harshest terms.”

The Sovereign Front says that weapons, claimed to be for the defense of the Lebanese borders and for the liberation of occupied Palestine, have lost direction. The compass is lost to cover up the crime of the explosion in the port of Beirut, which destroyed half of the capital and killed hundreds of martyrs and wounded thousands.

“The front expresses its indignation that it was not publicly announced what happened in the last cabinet meeting, where one of the ministers threatened another colleague in the presence of the President and the Prime Minister, demanding either stopping the judicial investigator Tariq Bitar or the government will fall,” the statement added.

The front warns against trying to turn the situation upside down, and in this way distract the Lebanese people from the reality of the port explosion, by trying to isolate and target a sovereign Lebanese party, the Lebanese Forces, which, like all other sovereigns, is working hard to stand up against any foreign domination of Lebanon.

At the end of its statement, the Front calls for an end to escalations and the halting of threatening language against a defenseless people by a heavily armed militia classified as terrorist, and;

“We call on the international community to take immediate action in order to implement all international resolutions (1559-1680-1701), and their annexes, issued by the U.N. Security Council.”
