BAGHDEDE/NINEVEH PLAINS, Iraq – The Syriac mayor of the Hamdaniya District, Issam Bahnam Matti, has conducted an inspection tour of key projects currently underway in his district.
Issam Behnam Matti followed up on the paving and renovation of sidewalks in Caritas Street, Baghdede, and the development project at the northeastern entrance of downtown Baghdede.
The head of the Baghdede municipality council and departmental engineers accompanied mayor Matti on Caritas Street which is being paved, reconstructed and extended to the industrial area of Qantara.
Terrorist organization Islamic State occupied the Syriac city of Baghdede on August 7, 2014. Its liberation in 2017 left massive destruction of infrastructure, religious and cultural centers, and houses. The percentage of burned houses and civil centers by Islamic State was more than 32%.
