Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria vehicle targeted by Syrian regime forces in Hasakah

HASAKAH, Syria — A security source from the Internal Security Forces (ISF) of North and East Syria told North Press Agency that members of the Syrian regime-affiliated National Defense Forces (NDF) opened fire on ISF members in the city of Hasakah, wounding an ISF member in his hand.

As a result, the ISF intensified their security checkpoints in several neighborhoods of the cities of Zalin (Qamishli), Hasakah, and the vicinity of the Syrian regime’s security square. The ISF also arrested a number of the regime members.

According to eyewitnesses, the ISF checkpoints warned its members and its military mechanisms not to pass through the areas controlled by the Syrian regime.

Several media outlets confirmed that negotiations are underway to resolve the problem caused by NDF.

This is not the first time that security tensions have occurred between the Syrian regime forces and the ISF in the region. The last tensions were in the Tayy neighborhood of Zalin, which led to the ISF taking control over the neighborhood after pushing the NDF out.
