US and Russia responsible for not preventing Turkish ceasefire violations, says North and East Syria official
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — In a statement to North Press Agency, Deputy Co-Chair of the Executive Council of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria Badran Jia Kurd addressed the continued Turkish threats against the region and their seriousness.
The Turkish threat still exists, said Jia Kurd, and the Turkish government announces on a daily basis that an attack on North and East Syria is imminent. The only thing that has prevented the attack is the disapproval of both the U.S. and Russia.
Turkish violations of the ceasefire agreement continue, with Turkey and the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) targeting civilians with drones and artillery. One solution to the drone campaign would be the establishment of a no-fly-zone, said Jia Kurd, who blamed the U.S and Russia for their inaction about the violations.
He noted that a political solution in Syria requires an end to the Turkish occupation and the withdrawal of Turkish forces and their factions from Syrian territory.
