Zalka Kindergarten in Zalin (Qamishli) in North and East Syria celebrates International Children’s Day

ZALIN, Syria — On the occasion of International Children’s Day, 20 November , the Zalka Kindergarten run by the Syriac Women’s Union (SWU) in Zalin (Qamishli) in North and East Syria held a children’s entertainment event on Sunday in the Westa neighborhood.

The ceremony was attended by teachers and children of Zalka Kindergarten from both Bashiriya and Westa neighborhoods. The event included special songs for the occasion, competitions, recreational games, and the distribution of sweets to the children.

The director of Zalka Kindergarten, Mayka Gouriya, explained to SyriacPress that the aim of this event was to sow joy in the souls of children and to remind the wider community that the rights of children must be secured, such as the right to play, learning, life, health and other rights outlined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child. 

Gouriya pointed out that Zalka Kindergarten is constantly holding celebrations of various events, including upcoming events for Christmas and the New Year, in addition to continuing to giving lessons to children between the ages of 3 and 5 in Syriac, Arabic, English according to the curriculum of the Olaf Taw Association.
