Delegation from North and East Syria headed to Moscow to discuss solutions to Syrian crisis
MOSCOW — At the invitation of the Russian Foreign Ministry, a delegation from the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria visited Moscow.
The visiting delegation included Co-Chair of the Executive Council of the Gozarto (Jazira) Region Nazira Goreya, Co-Chair of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) Elham Ahmed, and Deputy Co-Chair of the DAA Foreign Relations Commission in North and East Syria Fener al-Geit.
The visit focused on a path forward to a political solution to the decade-long Syrian crisis.
Member of the Syrian Democratic Council (SDC) Sihanok Dibo, who also attended the meeting, stated that Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov expressed his support for dialogue between the DAA and Daramsuq (Damascus).
Dibo also stated that Lavrov supported a decentralized model for Syria and the inclusion of the SDC in constitutional discussions.
In comments to SyriacPress, Goreya stated that during their meeting, ways to solve the Syrian crisis and work on bilateral issues were discussed.
She stressed the most important points addressed in the meeting were about the Syrian-Syrian dialogue which has been advocated by the DAA.
Goreya also said that the two sides presented many common points regarding de-escalation, establishing stability, and finding a comprehensive settlement of the Syrian issue.
