IAEA Director General begins talks with President of Iranian Atomic Energy Organization (AEOI), Israel raises tone of threat against Iran

TEHRAN — Preparations for talks between the International Atomic Energy Agency IAEA) and Iran began on Tuesday with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi traveling to Tehran a week before nuclear negotiations are set to resume.

Reuters quoted Grossi as saying that Iran and the IAEA will work together to deepen cooperation, adding that he is seeking common ground in talks with Iranian officials. Grossi was scheduled to meet with Foreign Minister Hussein Amir Abdullahian, who is in charge of the nuclear file in Iran’s new government, for the first time ahead of the talks.

As the talks are set to resume, Israel indicated its willingness to escalate the confrontation against Iran, stressing that it would not abide by any new nuclear deal Iran has concluded with major powers.

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett warned that his country is not bound by any nuclear agreement, saying that, “the mistake they made after the 2015 nuclear agreement will not be repeated.”
