SYRIA: People’s Municipality of Tel Tamr holds annual general meeting
TEL TAMR, Syria — The People’s Municipality of Tel Tamer held its annual general meeting on Thursday. A crowd of civilians, political and administration representatives, and the mayors of Qbor al-Ghurfa and Jabal Kiwan attended the meeting.
The most important work accomplished during the past year was highlighted and the floor was opened to criticism and recommendations.
Co-Chair of the People’s Municipality of Tel Tamr Ahmed Haidar confirmed stated during the meeting that, “despite difficulties, the municipality is determined to provide all services to citizens, especially the villages of our Syriac–Assyrian people in the Khabur Basin, which hosts tens of thousands of displaced people.”
He stressed that the Khabur is a priority of the 2022 annual plan, indicating that many projects were implemented and others are underway.
Regarding the obstacles, Haidar said that the villages of the Syriac–Assyrian people on the Khabur are being targeted by the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army (SNA) proxies but the municipality will repair any damage within its capabilities.
