Syriac member of Social Contract Drafting Committee Kino Gabriel: New Social Contract will guarantee rights of all components of North and East Syria
NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — In comments made to SyriacPress, Syriac member of the Social Contract Drafting Committee Kino Gabriel stated that, on the last day of the Social Contract sessions set by the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria, the items discussed in the first two days were completed.
Gabriel explained that the new Social Contract will guarantee the rights of all components and cultures in the region.
“Some points that were agreed and voted on are linked to concepts about culture, education, health, etc.” he added.
Regarding the status of the Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) people, Gabriel noted that, “it has been recognized as an essential component in the region and the Syriac language as an official language in North and East Syria, in addition to its participation and representation in all political, economic, and social fields.”
“In general, justice and balanced representation of all components was achieved,” he continued. “Democratic consensus, which ensures that the rights of any component are not infringed, was established.”
Gabriel pointed out that the drafting of the new Social Contract is an important step in the advancement of the DAA, developing the economy is critical, said Gabriel. Reconstruction efforts in the wake of the war against the Islamic State (ISIS) need to be intensified for the long-term stability of the region.
