Syriac Progressive Youth Union of North and East Syria celebrates Christmas event in Hasakah
HASAKAH, Syria — Under the auspices of the Youth and Sports Authority of the Democratic Autonomous Administration (DAA) of North and East Syria, the Syriac Progressive Youth Union illuminated a Christmas tree on Wednesday evening in Martyr Athro Square in the Al-Nasra neighborhood of Hasakah.
The event was attended by a large crowd of Syriac (Aramean–Assyrian–Chaldean) and other peoples of the region. Fireworks were set off while the Al-Nuhasiyah Band of the Fourth Scout Regiment performed Christmas songs. Attendees danced Dabkeh to Syriac folk songs.
The Syriac Security Forces (Sutoro and Women Sutoro) secured the gathering, which SuroyoTV broadcast live.
