Over 100 organizations launch advocacy campaign for missing persons in Syria

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — An digital advocacy campaign was launched by 128 organizations to draw attention to the issue of missing persons in Syria.

Under the title, “We Want Them All Among Us,” Ezdina Foundation and GAV for Relief and Development put together the campaign as a joint project.

A joint statement released by the organizations declared that the military conflict in Syria has left a catastrophic impact on Syrian society and the economy. Many families lost their children due to enforced disappearance during the ongoing 11-year-long war.

“Families of the missing have grown desperate and sad,” read the statement, indicating that immediate international actions must be taken to find missing persons and ensure human rights for their families.

The organizations who signed the letter stressed that defending the issue of missing persons in Syria is an ethical and humanitarian necessity.

The statement stressed that silence from national and international actors on the issue is unacceptable and more must be done.

The signatories demanded to resolve the issue of missing persons without discrimination because all families have the right to know the fate of their missing loved ones, regardless of their political background.
