BAGHDAD — The Media Office of Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi issued a statement regarding his recent reception of the new German Ambassador to Iraq, Martin Jaeger.
The pair discussed bilateral relations and joint cooperation between Baghdad and Berlin, in addition to ways to develop them in the interest of the two countries, according to the statement.
They also reviewed bilateral cooperation in security, economic, and investment fields, including electric and alternative energy.
Al-Kadhimi’s government continues its meetings with national and international leaders to build joint partnerships in an effort to make Iraq a starting point for spreading peace and stability in the Middle East.
On 4 October 2021, the new German Ambassador officially assumed his position in Iraq after handing his credentials to Iraqi Foreign Minister Fouad Hussein.
Jaeger confirmed German support to Iraq in facing terrorism, the war on the Islamic State (ISIS), and restoring security throughout the country.
