Regional Vice President for the Syriac Cross Malek Hanna details work of Family Center in Zalin, North and East Syria

ZALIN, Syria — On the 1st anniversary of the opening of the Family Center in Zalin (Qamishli), North and East Syria, Regional Vice President for the Syriac Cross Organisation for Relief and Development Malek Hanna stated that the center is concerned with the welfare of women and children.

The Center was opened in 2019 and began work in 2020, said Hanna.

“It holds women empowerment courses about first aid and issues of raising their children, in addition to sewing and International Certification of Digital Literacy (ICDL) courses,” he elaborated.

The Family Center also organizes courses for children, including learning music and art of all kinds, in addition to teaching English courses.

After completing their activities and courses, the children enter the Center entertainment room where they play and have fun.

Hanna added that the Center employs psychologists to provide counseling to women and their children. The psychologists listen to the problems and obstacles that women face in managing their families and provide advice.

The Center holds celebrations on all occasions concerned with the rights of women and children, Hanna said, in addition to arranging recreational trips for families.

Hanna thanked the Ritz Organization which supported the establishment of the Family Center and wished them Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
