Co-Chair of Zalin Canton Council Ishak: Resolving Syrian crisis depends on Syrian-Syrian dialogue, not Astana or Geneva
RMELAN, Syria — Co-Chair of Zalin (Qamishli) Canton Council Afram Ishak delivered a speech during the annual meeting of the Municipalities and Environment Committee of Zalin at Aram Dikran Center for Culture and Art in Rmelan, North and East Syria.
Ishak stated that, “The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria has political representatives and Syrian crisis meetings held without involving it will undoubtedly fail as the only way to resolve the crisis lies in the Syrian dialogue, not Astana or Geneva.”
With regard to the repercussions of closing the border crossings, Ishak declared that Syria is experiencing an economic crisis and some parties are exploiting this to further aggravate the economic situation in North and East Syria. He pointed to Russia’s rejection of opening the Tel Kojer border crossing and the Kurdistan Democratic Party’s closure of the Semalka and Al-Walid border crossings as examples.
