SYRIA: Choir of Mor Aphrem the Syriac in Hasakah holds a Christmas recital
HASAKAH, Syria — In the presence of large crowds of our Syriac (Aramean-Assyrian-Chaldean) people, and Syriac Orthodox Archbishop of Gozarto (Jazira) and Euphrates Mor Maurice Amsih, Choir of Mor Aphrem the Syriac held a recital on Christmas in the hall of Mor Jirjis’ Cathedral in Al-Hasakah.
In a statement to Suroyo TV, the Archbishop Amsih stated that, “Choir of Mor Aphrem the Syriac used to held recitals at Mor Jirjis’ Cathedral in Hasakah. The birth of the Lord Jesus, who was born in a humble cave in Bethlehem, today is born in our hearts to restore security, safety and peace to our people.”
“We pray to the Lord that Syria will be liberated from terrorism, and pandemics be away from our people,” said the Archbishop, “We are rooted and adhered to the land of our forefathers in the Gozarto (Al-Jazirah) Region.”
The attendees expressed their joy at the arrival of Christmas, amidst hymns in Arabic and Syriac.
