DAA institutions condemn Turkish attack on Kobane

Several areas in Northern and Eastern Syria have been attacked by Turkey, and Turkish drone attacks continue. The Turkish occupation bombed a house containing members of the Syrian Revolutionary Youth Movement and the Union of Young Women in Kobane, killing five of them and injuring four others.

The Legislative Council of al-Jazeera province and the Future Syria Party condemned the attacks by the Turkish occupation on Northeastern Syria, which claimed the lives of civilians and civil society activists. SDF Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi stated that Turkish attacks undermine stabilization efforts in Northeastern Syria.

The legislative council of Al Jazeera province condemned the attacks of the Turkish occupation on the region through a written statement which stated, “We condemn in the strongest terms such cowardly attacks by the Turkish state and its mercenaries, which claim the lives of civilians and civil society activists and increase the suffering of the human population in light of the closure of border crossings.”

The statement called on the guarantor countries – the Russian Federation and the United States of America – to intervene immediately, put an end to such attacks and targeting of civilians and fulfill the international commitments agreed with the State of Turkey in the de-escalation agreement of 2019.

For its part, the Future Syria Party issued a statement calling for an end to the targeting of areas in Northeastern Syria by Turkish drones that cause civilian casualties. The Future Syria Party statement describes the Turkish government’s record of crimes would be against humanity and actions against human rights and international law.

Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) Commander-in-Chief Mazloum Abdi said Turkish attacks undermine stabilization efforts in Northeastern Syria. In a tweet, Abdi called on the United Nations to carry out its duty and stop Turkey’s policy of intimidation of civilians in the region.
