Priests from the Syriac Church offer New year’s Blessings to Syriac Christians
Reverend Youssef Assi, priest of the Syriac Catholic Church in Qamishli, and Reverend Habib Issa, priest of Mar Aho Syriac Orthodox Church, and in separate statements, they congratulated our people and Christians in general on the advent of Christmas and the New Year.
The Christmas holidays continue within an atmosphere of preparations for the coming of the New Year, and the celebration of the birth of Christ.
Our satellite channel conducted an interview with Reverend Youssef Assi, priest of the Syriac Catholic Church in Qamishli, where he said: “We ask the Lord, on these days of feasts, to restore us with goodness and health, and we pray that this year will be a blessed year for the world and for Syria, especially for our areas in Jazeera, Hasaka and Qamishli.”
Father Assi added: “We hope that security and peace will also come, and that we will end the epidemic of Corona and return to our normal life, a life of faith and peace.”
For his part, Father Habib Issa of the Mar Aho Syriac Orthodox Church stated: “We wish everyone a happy new year, and we ask the Lord, who came to save humanity, to save us from these wars and these epidemics, and to put in our hearts his love, peace and security, and we pray that love prevails in the new year.”
Father Issa added: “As the Lord Christ said, “ For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them” (Matthew 18:20). So, let us preserve the presence of Christ in our world, because without Christ, our life is darkness, because he is the light of the world. God bless you this and every year.”
