Internal Security Forces of North and East Syria issues annual report and graduates new training course

NORTH AND EAST SYRIA — The General Command of the Internal Security Forces (ISF) of North and East Syria released its annual report on the organization’s effectiveness and statistics of the Counter-Terrorism Units (Hêzên Antî Teror, HAT) for 2021.

The ISF statement reads as follows:

“In pursuit of the Islamic State cells (ISIS), the HAT carried out several security operations, in cooperation with the U.S.-led International Coalition. Five HAT members were injured due to clashes in various regions of North and East Syria.

In order to limit the assassinations and bombings that aim to destabilize the security and safety of citizens, hundreds of ISIS operatives were arrested and a quantity of ammunition have been seized during 2021.

During 147 operations, 469 operatives were arrested, and 8 of whom were killed as a result of the confrontation with the Counter-terrorism Units in various regions.

267 weapons of all kinds were seized, in addition to 400 magazines, 25,761 bullets and 85 shells. Also, 96 bombs and 13 explosive belts were confiscated, in addition to 5 day and night binoculars. The number of cell phones seized was 451, as well as 22 laptops, 23 hard drives, 20 flash drives, 1 surveillance camera, 196,000 Captagon pills, and 290 hashish quantities, in addition to 10 different vehicles and 11 motorcycles.”

In related news, 30 male and female members of the ISF graduated from a 35-day training course, named in honor of Martyr Sami, at the Academy of the Martyr Ali Naso in Zalin (Qamishli), Gozarto (Jazira) Region.

A military parade was performed by the graduates, and several congratulatory speeches were delivered emphasizing the ISF’s role in establishing security, protecting civilians, and preserving their property.

The training course included political and intellectual lessons.
