IRAQ: A Christmas celebration held for the Syriac schools in Kerkeslokh

KERKESLOKH, Iraq — For the Christmas and New Year holidays, the Syriac Studies Department of Kerkeslokh (Kirkuk) Governorate held a celebration at Anastas Karmali Elementary Mixed School in Kerkeslokh.

The celebration was attended by Director General of Kerkeslokh Education Abd Ali Hussein, Director of the Syriac Studies Department Munir Jalal, and a number of departmental staff.

The celebration included several speeches in which the students and teaching staff were congratulated. Folklore dances and performances from Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian heritage were presented. Several hymns and poems in Syriac and Arabic were also recited.
